391 Supports Youth Sports Foundation of Tuolumne County

At their December 6, 2011 Board of Directors Meeting, the Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 391 presented representatives from the Youth Sports Foundation of Tuolumne County (YSF) with a check for $4,701.99.  These monies will be used to purchase a new wireless controlled electronic scoreboard for the historic Sonora Dome athletic fields. YSF board president Dave Crocker said the new scoreboard will be installed and ready for use for` this springs girls softball and boys baseball seasons.  A sixteen foot sponsor panel just beneath the new scoreboard will include the wording Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 391 and their Chapter 391 emblem.

The donated scoreboard is only a part of the total Dome Field renovation project being conducted by the Youth Sports Foundation.  Other separate projects include: new dugouts/bench areas for the existing baseball/softball diamond; a revamped irrigation system; the completion of a second baseball/softball diamond at the northwest corner of the field; and new fencing.  Sonora Union High School Districts Board of Trustees and their maintenance staff have pledged to maintain the newly renovated Dome sports fields into the future.

YSF president Dave Crocker expressed a sincere thank you to the members of VVA, Chapter 391 for their generous donation and for their continued support and contributions to the youth of Tuolumne County.

December 1 edition

VVA National Membership Directory Flyer  If have been told or have heard rumors that the postcard mailing and the phone calls to VVA/AVVA members about the Vietnam Veterans of America Members Album is a scam, that information and rumor is totally incorrect. The VVA National Board of Directors approved the contract agreement with Harris Connect to publish the 2012 VVA Membership Directory at the BOD Meeting on October 7-8, 2011 in Silver Spring, MD.

We are currently in the final stages of preparing Vietnam Veterans of America Members Album; this is the first Membership Directory ever to feature listings along with photos and essays submitted by members. We need your help! A brief telephone call Toll Free to 1-800-970-9773 will ensure your listing is completely accurate and up-to-date. Please, give us a call at your convenience this week so that we may verify your information with you.

Of course, you will be asked if you are interested in purchasing the Members Album and here are the prices. Book Edition Expected Unit Price:
Softbound $89.99
Hardbound $99.99
CD-ROM $99.99
CD-ROM and Softbound edition combination $109.99
CD-ROM and Hardbound edition combination $119.99
Alternate CD-ROM (if applicable) $24.99

This may seem a bit high, but it is only $10.00 higher than the 2008 VVA Membership Directory and 11,301 VVA/AVVA members purchased a directory in 2008. The $30,655 in royalty earned went to the VVA National Membership Affairs Committee cost center and besides the postcard mailing; if you have an e-mail address with VVA, you should receive an e-mail from
XLW_pcr@harrisconnect.com also.

No one is required to purchase a directory, you may choose to Opt-Out in having your name or information listed in the Members Album and your wishes will be honored. If you have complaints, please send the VVA CFO Joe Sternburg an e-mail at jsternburg@vva.org and he will handle the inquiry.

Bill Meeks, Jr.
Secretary, VVA
